Problem with the graphics

Hi there

I have brought Hearts of Iron 2 a few days ago but only yesterdaythe game has decided to throw a fit, basicly when the game goes into the main menu after its finished loading, the screen splits into two across the monitor and becomes jumpy and slows down at a rate of after 4 minutes a blue screen comes up with an error and pauses the computer(i was unable to find out what was wrong as i was unwilling to damage the game/computer by trying it again.)

Would it be possible if i could recieve any help as i enjoy the game very much.

Okay let's try some standard things.
1) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Set the color depth to 16BIT
3) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
4) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-3.
