Problem with windows 7

Hey. Long time forum lurker, first time poster.

I played crusader kings (DV patched) on windows xp without any problems. Now that I switched to windows 7 I just cant get the game to work. Installation works fine, but when clicking the exe file all I get is a black screen and my computer freezes. You can do absolutely nothing and in that point I have to restart my computer.

I've tried different compatibility modes, but no luck. I've also tried reinstalling and installing in different folders and disc drives, but no luck there either. And I've also tried playing different vesions of the game (unpatched ck, ck 1.05, unpatched DV), but you can quess what happened :>

And so Im finally here asking advice from fellow ck players. How can I get the game work under windows 7 that's my question.

Thanks for reading and really appreciated if anyone can offer a solution to my problem. I'd really like to go conquering the world again

Rename the AVI folder and see if it launches.

Paradox games use the Bink video codec, which is very problematic on Vista/Win7.

Do you run CK as administrator?

If that doesn't work, uninstall.

then create a new folder on harddrive, like C: games. Install Ck there.

Tried all those as well as adding "-nointro" to the ck exe, but still no luck.
