Problems connecting

So hears the story...

I was trying to join a friends game, I type in the password. A few seconds later a little box pops up telling me that it has failed to find a game at this IP address. So we thought well maybe its the router blocking ports *pesky router*. As of now im connected directly to the modem and im still getting the same message when I try to join his game... I haven't as of yet tried any games hosted by other people but the other people playing in his hosted game don't seem to have any problems. Thanks.

For questions regarding getting multi player to work with various routers etc, you really are better off at asking your question in the multi player forum. That's where the experts in this field hang out. So I'll move your question over.

if it's not a router problem it can jsut be a old plain conncetion problem. (this sometimes happends) just try to connect to the game by connecting hru the IP. it usually works if it's not a router problem

Ok got another one for you. We ended up using hamatchi which is why I havent responded in a few days . Now Im trying to get me and my roommate into a game on our network..but we arnt able to connect. I've seen this problem posted all over the forums but with no results. We're using a Dlink router.. We've never had problems with any other games.. niether of us use firewalls or any of that. The funny thing is if my other friend hosts a server over hamatchi we can join a lan game... I dunno.

You are setting up the host on LAN, right?

Other than that, I don't know if I can help you.....

As usual, its typically best to eliminate those pesky firewalls ASAP, before playing....

Yeah its the same thing when either of us host on our lan.

one of you doesn't have all his proper ports forwarded, either its your router or his or both. Routers usually come with hardware firewalls as well so you should try to disable those.
