Hello -

First, thanks for the free CK; I haven't played in a while so am looking forward to starting a new game.

I have followed the directions in the install sticky; i.e., downloaded from GG CK Complete and CK DV. Installed in that order, and everything went smoothly.

Then I downloaded the 2.1 Beta Patch. Extracting and installing the beta patch is where I am encountering problems.

When I Unrar the patch to my CK install directory I get an "access denied" error message. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I see from other posts that this is probably related to read/write rights. But I am running in ADMIN mode so I am a bit puzzled as to why I am being denied write access.

I installed both CK Complete and CK DV into the default folders as specifed in the installer program. Here is the path where I have installed CK:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Otto

Try installing it in C:\Games\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings or something similar.

Would I have to uninstall before trying your suggestion? Is it OK to have the game installed in two different directories at the same time? I do not see a C:\Games\ directory so I assume I need to create the whole path you suggest first then specify this path in the installer. Sorry for the simple questions but I am not very computer literate beyond the basics. Thanks.

There shouldn't be a problem with having the game installed in 2 different directories and yes, you need to create the c:\games directory.

This forum is for answering questions, so no need to apologize :)
