OK, so I tried to reinstall Victoria after my computer had been away for reparation (we had a virus). They uninstalled everything.

I have since installed a lot of games (HoI2 worked), but when I try to install Vicky it stops at 40% and then a box comes up that says:

"Component: Core files
File Group: common
File: D:/data2.cab
Error: Datafel (CRC-fel, Cyclic Reboundary Check)"

(Part of the last one is in Swedish.)

PS. Before the computer was repaired I also had the Revolutions expansion installed. I really want to play this game, so I would appreciate if you help me soon. :(

Most likely either a dirty or damaged CD or a problem with the drive. Can you try installing it on another computer as a test?

I haven't got any other computer. How do I wash the disc? I don't want to make it any worse. Can I just wash it with water and a towel?

Unless it has some obvious dirt stuck to it you shouldn't need any liquid, just a lint-free cloth of some kind. Unless you are using some CD repair kit that says otherwise you should always wipe CDs radially (i.e. from center to edge), never in a circle.
