If I save a game while in "Trade screen" mode, then when I reload, the game will not let me revert to the "movement" screen - it allows me to click the button, but does not display properly.

Interesting problem, I've never encountered it myself, but now I shall take extra precaution not to save in such a manner. I'm reminded of a very corny old joke:
Doctor: What seems to be the problem?
Patient: Well Doc, it hurts when I stand on my tippy-toes.

Indeed, I had the very same joke in mind when I replied, but had the strength of character not to indulge in it!
Diplomacy screen
I'm experiencing a similar problem in IGC. My saved game, after I load it, starts with the diplomacy screen (I saved it in the movment screen) and I can't return to the movement screen.

After I posted my question, I discovered in another thread that by clicking on the tree-symbol you return to the movement screen (geographical view). My problem is solved.
Yep, If you click the tree on the left hand side of the page all will be OK whatever screen you last saved on.
