Problems with Patch 2.3.2

The first time I installed this patch on my laptop. I had problems, I asked and I was told to download Directx 9. It worked then

Now, I installed it on another computer (windows vista) and after installing the patch it doesn't work, even after installing Directx 9.0 (neither installing directx before or after downloading the patch.

Can you please be more descritive? "Doesn't work" isn't enough to be able to help you. Are you confident it installed properly? What version and checksum do you now get in the main screen? Please be as expansive as possible.

I uninstalled the game. I then re-installed it (including the DirectX) - no problems. I opened the game and hit "play" (yesterday I went directly to update). I got an error: "unhandled exception - side-by-side configuration is incorrect". One can then gnore or quit. I ignored but the game goes back to the opening screen (where one hits play).

The main screen doesn't tell me anything about versions. I tells me that the 2.3.2 update is available for Rome Gold (which I have).

That's the Launcher screen. The one I'm talking about, you see after you hit Play on that, and you get to the main menu with Single Player, Multiplayer, Options and so on. The version # and checksum ought to be on that page.

They are also available in MP; click on Multiplayer, Host, Host, and it will be on the bottom-right of the screen. It should be 2.32c SWBL .

But that is what the problems: I cannot get to the main screen. The error happens after I hit Play on the launcher screen

Oh I'm sorry, I missed the "side-by-side" error you mention. See the sticky thread on that error at the top of this forum.

Did that, but it tells me that it or a newer version is already in place
