First off, I wanna say I really love the first Take Command. Something weird happened to my computer when I tried to install the sequel.

Recently I bought “Take Command: Second Manassas.” I installed the game, and started it up. I noticed that the mouse was frozen, so I exited the game and shut down the computer to restart it. When I went to start it back up, it told me that the config file is corrupted, and that I’d need to reinstall XP. In fact, the file is so corrupted, it will not boot. That sucks, because I’ll lose everything on my laptop if I can’t find a way to fix this. (yes, I know I should be better at doing things like making BACK UPS!)

Has this problem happened before, and if so, what is the remedy? Did Take Command cause this? Installing it is what I did immediately before this problem occurred. I cannot think of anything else I did during that session on my computer, nor was I even connected to the intertnet at the time. Please help if you can.

Thanks.

I have never heard of TC doing this to any computer. Since I wrote the install script I can guarantee that we don't mess with any windows files. In fact you can remove TC by just deleting the folder. But, I do know that securom does place some files in a couple of other locations, it's all documented in our tech support forum. This happens the first time you launch the game, not during installation. I wish that I could give you more help.

Thanks for your reply. I know that you are a good company and I own other Paradox titles, so I didn't think anything sinister was up. Someday I will be actually able to play TC2. Keep making great games.
