In all my recent games I have noticed a trend where all kingdoms vanish over time and are never remade.
Mostly (always?) this is caused by Kings ending up with a single demense which is then conquered and so the kingdom title is lost for ever.
eg. Last game - not even 1200 yet and from the starting 18 kingdoms at 1066 there are now only 9 (and two of those are small kingdoms that can be made later like wales). England's king had essex which was captured by some small french duke and so England the Kingdom has vanished from the game, so has france, germany etc France lost its capital to a muslim ..the rest of mainland europe is non-muslim, its a little odd to see Il de France a muslim province in the sea of christians. All those vassals and armies available and the AI never did a thing to protect itself. (On normal/aggresive)
Is is just the AI is to dumb to guard its home province? Do we need some means for Kingdoms to carry on when the King's only province has been lost? The AI is just not smart enough I guess to take a Duke and make him work towards a kingdom the size of france, england or germany so they are lost for ever unless a player does it. Partly because the AI never offers vassalizations? Partly because the BB for trying to unite a kingdom would be horrendous? Maybe if a King is lost because of this issue the title should go to his stongest vassal automaticly? Maybe when a King loses his only demense he should automaticly revoke a nearby count or duke title and move to it? He is the King after all, he doesnt stop being a king becaue he loses one province, he should be pushed back not vanish totaly.
