 I just bought victoria (v1.00) (publisher strat first) in canada. i had no problem patching it on my w 98 machine but i had probs patching on my new laptop with a top end nividia card and windows xp. maybe it has to do with xp? windows won't execute either patch 1.03 or 1.04 stating that they aren't executable and are probably corrupt. the problem isn't the patch because, as i say, it works fine on my older machine. any suggestions? sir s.

Perhaps the files really are corrupt. Try to transferee them again to your xp machine.

thanks for the reply. the files aren't corrupt because they work fine on my older machine. it has to do with the way my operating system is trying to open the patch because the set-up wizard doesn't initiate. very strange.

Do you have administrator access to xp?

Well, this may sound silly, but try to copy the patch executables to your Documents directory and run them from there. Only a suggestion.

If you haven't got this working yet, exactly how did you get the patches to the new machine (CD, wireless network, wired network, etc.)? Have you tried redownloading directly to the new machine?
