The game crashes after "map is correcly initialized" ("Karte korrekt initialisiert"). I tried everything (including XP compatibility mode) , nothing worked

I had the same problem - not sure which one of my changes that "did the trick" but I got it working on my Sony Vaio FZ21M with Windows Vista (no SP). The things I did:
*) Installed some video driver registry fix from Sony.
*) Installed HDMI update from Sony.
*) Installed new audio drivers.
*) Disconnected from external monitor - I am now running on the laptop screen.
*) Configured the game (shortcut to RomeGame.exe) to run in "XP compatibility mode" (for ALL users)
*) I start the game in administrator mode.
If I ever find out exactly what fixes this I will post again.
