One big disadvantage to the HOI2 series of games is you don't really want allies and puppets because of several reasons.

1. You can't attack through them for land you want. Also they can take provinces you don't want them to.

a. They get the land and resources and we all know that player controlled countries will most likely be better controlled and normally have better techs so resources and such are better used.

b. This can also cause you not to be able to release a country you to make if an ally takes certain key provinces.

2. Your allies can declare war on someone you don't want to or when your not ready.

3. Supply routes or support is less guarenteed since they might hinder your supply routes.

I would love to puppet or have as allies if the above were not true. But these things are so agrivating. There is no way to transfer control of a province on the game decides a certain country controls it. Even if a different country is the one who actually took the province or evendeclared war on the province's country. I would love to see work on this principle. Losing say the ability to own any of Russia if you take all of Poland and release it as a puppet is bad. And making supply problems because of it is wrong. A game can become frustrating because of things like this.

Also things like auto partitioning of yugoslavia is a pain. One reason Germany may want to take Yugoslavia for herself is to allow her a port in the Med. Unfortunately if you are allied with Italy before you take it and even if Germany takes all of the provinces herself she loses all the Med provinces.

So I think a rework on how provinces are determined who they belong to after conquering or maybe a way of trading provinces that realistically works is in order. Also we need to be able to run supply through Allies or with Allied help. Maybe if you supply through a country you must give them some money or extra resouces (oil and supplies).
