I would appreciate any information that could be provided concerning the buildings built in each province. I was hoping that a beta tester could list the names of the buildings. I am assuming that asking for more information (i.e. the actual effects of the buildings) would be asking too much.
----

I hate to be picky... but I wish the color blue (or blue/gray) was not used for land in the minimap (which some posed screenshots show). My mind always processes it as water and it takes a second to figure out that I am looking at.
----

I am curious to see how advances (technology) and province buildings are applied. Can you tell your vassels what to build? Can you tell them what advances to pursue?
-----

I also have a question about dynasty. I assume that it is possible to have your daughter take control of the kingdom if the applicable succession law was in effect. But what if your daughter is married to someone else? Does that void the succession? If not, then I *guess* it would be feasable to hijack another dynasty (I can go into more detail if that doesn't make any sense).
-----

Thanks in advance for helping me with my questions.
Looking forward to another great Paradox game.

It's probably under NDA, unfortunately. From the AARs we get the following buildings:

Court of Justice (reduces bandits)
Roads (not sure what these do, but probably effect army movement)
Sawmills (more income from province?)
Harbors (likely lets you build/hire fleets and trade)
Castles (duh) probably several kinds

There's also a reference in the Hungarian AAR to wanting to build a port city but not having the necessary knowledge.

I think the minimap used so far in the screenshots is just a placeholder. If I remember correctly, Victoria screenshots showed a dummy minimap until very near the game's release. But judging by some of the great artwork we've seen so far (IMHO), it doesn't seem like something to be worried about :)

Roads will prolly also provinde a bonus for overland trade, and if there are sawmills there will certainly be some sort of mining upgrades...

NDA...but I can tell you that I have a beautiful FAQ ready for everyone once this is lifted.

Again, can't comment directly other than to say that the vast majority of betas have reported no problem with the mini map.

Sorry...NDA.

Makes perfect sense...and is also NDA.

We can't be much help to you on this one I'm afraid. Conjecture and ideas might conceivably be useful... ;)

There will probably also be some city-based upgrades... City walls, toll stations, guilds perhaps?

I'd like to see information on the province buildings, too.

I'd also like to know whether we can destroy them. Especially walls. If a province kept rebelling it was not uncommon for a King to remove their walls as a punishment (and to ensure that the next revolt was easier to crush).

Insta-destructing all province improvements would be too unbalancing, but perhaps, if time and money were spent, we could destroy as well as create.

That just has to be in. Development of cities was very important in this period. Imagine building up your capital city to be a rival to Rome or Constantinople. :D Of course, the bigger the city you build, the more prone to unrest it should be (here's hoping that "free city charter" is a law you can pass).

If Charters are in that would be really great - instead of giving a city to a vassal give it to the people. Perhaps this is one of the options in playing the people off against the nobility....

Had same question earlier.. and as it looks the daughter will continue to rule hers.. and that boy will be made part of your dynasty.

If otoh that boy is also the inheritor of something, both manage their own kingdoms/fiefs whatever.

However, should they have offspring, that stands to inherit both kingdoms as a direct.. we have something of a problem :D

Now in SP, it all goes to the player, logically, eh?
In MP.. no freakin clue.. random who gets wiped out?!??

Perhaps the larger one is given precedence.. ie king of sisily with queen of byzantium.. it would go to byzantines (unless its really close to 1452 ;), incase sisily might get constantinopel)

city strength depending somewhat on their

- defensive capabilities - how much freedom can they claim?
- city size,
- presence of manufactories (will be abstracted in CK iirc),
- are they nearby trade routes. One of the important trade routes in the middle ages was f.e. Brugge-Aken-Köln.... Taxing trade routes was a very common tactic,
- center of finance, besides the Italian states, very few financial centers were present (some of the others were Avignon, Brugge),
- trade junctions,

it's not that easy to say = I want my city to become as big as city X. You can't become a trade junction all by yourself and increasing the amount of habitants is also a long proces. And becoming a center of finance is even more difficult,

Spuce's comment above opens up a big question... just how much will the [economic and population properties of] provinces change over the course of the game? Can someone provide data to show just how much some of these cities changed between 1200 and 1453 AD? And just how much of that economic/population growth is going to be tied to the player's decisions?

I believe that will be left to the engine, building castles, draining marches & developing economic techs ;)
..some of which may add to the "tax value" of a province. Wonder what the maximum +X can be with all the buildings etc.. +10?

I wonder what buildings in your provinces will translate into when converted to EU2. Increased infrastructure/trade level? Tax collectors?
A few more weeks and we'll all know.
