Hi,

Firstly, I absolutely love this game. My first play through, it was Year 2537 and when I tried to continue my Ironmode game play, the game would load half way (until the Loading Map Graphics message), and error out with the subject error code. I could start a new game, save it, and load it just fine. But not my Year 2537 saved game ... so sad! I thought maybe it was an issue with losing power that same day with my PS4 in Rest Mode and started a new game play.

However, same thing has just happened. I got to Year 2445, Ironman mode on Grand Admiral difficulty, had 51 planets, and was the dominant empire thus far. Now I can’t load the gameplay, and get the same CE-34878-0 error, at the same load point (e.g. half way of loading bar, as soon as it reads Loading Map Graphics). Same situation as before, I can start a new game, save it, and load just fine. But I want to continue my perfect game I had going on the hardest difficulty, please help me. I’ve done everything I was able to find online about the CE-34878-0 error (clear cache, hard reset of system, rebuild storage database), but nothing works. It doesn’t seem to be the game or my system (like I said, I can start/save/load a new Stellaris game, I can play other games etc.), so I am at my wits end.

Below are the bug details:
1. What platform are you using? PS4
2. What version of the game are you using? Version 2.03 ... my PS4 says this is indeed the latest version of the game.
3. What DLC do you have installed? None, I just got this game and just starting with the basic edition first.
4. When did this start happening? See my notes above ... seems like it’s happening when my empire gets too big?
5. Can you replicate it, if so, please explain how - It’s happened twice now with both game plays being post Year 2400-2500 ... both instances I had large fleets wth 15+ with 90k-100k power, 40-50 planets, 2500-3200 Population.
6. Does this happen on all saves or just specific ones? Both game plays were on Ironmode
7. What steps have you taken to try and solve this yourself (reinstall, Google error code etc)? Everything ... Hard reset of system which requires reinstalling the game, cleared cache, confirmed latest PS4 and Stellaris game version installed, turned off face recognition, changed the PS4 System Display settings around, cleared cache, created a new game and load saved game etc.)

Any help you can provide so I can continue my gameplay I had going is appreciated. I can’t express how perfectly I was playing and the luck I had going as far as habitable planets and diplomatic strategy, etc. I want to be able to finish it off!

Thank you,
Bernie

What are you galaxy settings like?

I ask because it is possible that you may have pushed the limits of the game (and how your system handles the game) too far

The internal AI for the game has to calculate everything that goes on, and as the game progresses this load gets bigger

Sadly Stellaris is known to lag and occasionally crash due to the load the game has

There are some ways to combat this right now and we will get some gameplay updates with Expansion Pass 4 that should fix most of the problems (though some may persist on Console Edition due to technical limitations)

1) Play with a smaller Galaxy size [play on Medium instead of Large]
2) Less AI Empires, Less/No Fallen/Marauder Empires [if you normally play with 10 AI Empires, 3 Fallen and 2 Marauder...switch down to 6/1/1]
3) Keep other settings at default or don't increase them too far [Hyperlanes, Primitive Civilizations, Habitable Worlds, etc]

This should help to a degree with gameplay issues

It won't fix any ongoing games however, and likely you may have to scrap those saved games [I honestly don't even know if an upgrade to a PS5 would fix your problem since the game is still tech limited to what the One/PS4 had]

Thanks for the reply. I had all max settings chosen (e.g. large galaxy, max AI empires, 1 Fallen Empire, max primitive civilizations), although I had hyper lanes at 1.0, but in general everything was set to the max. So sad, but I’ll restart with a smaller galaxy and less AI empires.

Update: Tried loading Stellaris and loading my saved game referenced above to my son’s PS5 and stil same issue, game doesn’t load after multiple tries and errors out. I’ve read on other forums however that other players are able to play into the late end game, and just experience major lag versus what I’m experiencing which is just the complete inability to load the saved game. Ugh!

You may want to contact Sony tech support, they may have a dedicated list of things to try and fix problems like this

I'm only familiar with the Microsoft Fix List so this goes beyond my knowledge base

Hi!

I recommend going to support.paradoxplaza.com and open a ticket for Stellaris: Console Edition. Customer support may be able to help out with this issue. :D
