When Cities Skylines teased an enhanced version for consoles it was the news I’d been waiting ages for, I’d been playing the PS4 disc version of Cities on my PS5 since 2021 and had absolutely loved it buying multiple DLC’s. But around the release of the airports DLC it was becoming increasingly difficult to fit everything on to 9 tiles, I could only dream of building some of the incredible PC Cities I’d seen on YouTube, so I decided against buying the DLC.

The news of 25 tiles, better graphical performance and more on the remastered version was a reason to keep playing. Remastered release day is a mixture of disappointment and anger, physical disc owners would not be getting the free upgrade to the remastered version for reasons that I absolutely understood.

Which brings me to the present day, I’m stuck in Cities limbo, I really want to play more Cities but I don’t want to shell out for another full version of the game, especially as we now know Cities 2 is coming at some point.

I feel the developers should’ve done more to enable physical disc owner access to the remastered version, trading discs for upgraded codes or something. Had the remastered version been available to me for free or at a significantly reduced price I would be buying more DLC’s.

Anyway that’s my thoughts, I hope the wait until the shiny new Cities 2 on PS5 isn’t too far away.
