Greetings Paradoxians,

Have you ever dreamt of working in the games industry, and especially for Paradox? Now is your chance as we are looking for people to expand our growing Quality Assurance team.

Right now we are looking for talented, devoted game testers with a passion for our internal titles as EUIV, CKII, HoI4 etc. As a QA tester at Paradox, you will help us deliver the best possible products by testing all our internally developed titles in various stages of development.

Since our strategy titles are very complex, we value previous experience with them highly. Experience from QA testing with other game companies or functional testing with other software companies is also very appreciated, and will be regarded as a great merit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Testing games according to instructions
  • Writing bug reports
  • Providing input on game design, when requested

Your preferred experience and skills:

  • Deep understanding of Paradox Development Studio games such as Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings and Hearts of Iron (this is a must)
  • Previous experience with Quality Assurance
  • Experience with bug reporting tools such as Mantis or Jira
  • A fulfilled game education is highly valued
  • Great communication skills
  • Fluent in English (both spoken and written)
  • Good at working independently as well as in a team
  • Analytic mindset
  • Strong attention to details
  • Knowledge in OS X & Linux environments are a big plus

The role is based in Stockholm so you need to live in or be able to move to Stockholm. Unfortunately we are not able to offer any relocation packages at this moment.

Does this sound interesting? Send us your application as soon as possible! We will interview candidates continuously.

You can apply for the position by following this link: http://career.paradoxplaza.com/jobs/2423-qa-tester

And if you have any questions, post them here or write me a private message if you feel more comfortable by doing so.

Your Evil Overlord,
Mr.Nibbles

Let's keep to the topic at hand in this thread. It is about working for Paradox QA not the existing QA efforts.

I'd like to apply but I wouldn't know where to get the experience because you need experience to apply :p

If only I had qualified experience, i've clocked like three thousand hours on crusader kings two and would say I know it like the back of my hand :D

Well for bug hunting on the PDS titles you could do that right here on the forum. You have CK2, EU4, and HOI3, playing the first two and reporting bugs in the proper bug forums, as they both have had DLC's released Within the last 3 months. Right there if you have / had been doing that is giving you experience with bug reporting.
Being extremely well versed in those same games...
The fact you have 3800+ posts here I think says you at least probably have strong written English skills.

For others of you reading here, ForzaA from PDS QA came from the forum, where from what I can tell, he was active on tech support and bug reporting. Moral of the story is for some that would like this job, but don't have the qualifications right now, be active and helpful, and maybe the next time...

MrNibbles, be thankful RRW and I have kids and amazing women in our lives or we'd be knocking on your door right about now asking when we start and how many couches you have

Just out of curiosity what is meant by "A fulfilled game education"?

Usually we think it is a bonus if people have some kind of game education, either Game Design, 3D art ect, as those kind of educations help you to better understand the games industry. However, it is not a requirement.

Haha, how about tricking them over here by telling them you all are going on an extended vacation?? :p

And everything Had a dad wrote is so very true. I've talked to a lot of people outside of the industry, I talk a lot in game development schools when they find it that they need to invite me to talk to their students, and the most occuring thing is that people tend to think they are not qualified, and therefore simply let a huge oppertunity slip them by. If you want to do this kind of work, what's the worst thing that can happen? Most likely you'll get a mail saying that the position has been filled?

And yes, we have quite a few people that we have hired that came from the forums.

Let me put it this way, if someone sent an really nice application AND stated they had 3000 hours clocked in one of our games, I would be more interested in that kind of application than one from say a game development student that might know how the work is done, but has little to no experience in our games.

Finally, my chance...

I applied using the LinkedIn connection. Unfortunately that connection doesn't specify my Paradox-related experience like my 1307 hours spent in EU4 (half of those are spent modding and testing VeF mod) since it's not something you can just put in your Linkedin profile. If you guys contact me, I can provide more details. Hopefully with my 3.5 years of experience testing enterprise applications for some big players in the industry and my contributions to the modding community I will be among the favourites.

Wish me luck, friends!

Luck wished.

Good to see Paradox proactively seeking to address the failings in the company at present. Good luck with the search and good luck to all applicants

...snip...

Hi, I'm Interested, how ever I'm located in Perth Western Australia, not that i have any real ties here that would stop me going overseas for work, but I'm curious as to the Definitive Requirements needed for the job...

I have done a lot of bug testing and such for a number of MMO's and other such games, and even tested for a few modders and such, but the only issue i have with is the training which i on only ever got for anything close was AIT in high school, which was web design and such, and pretty basic, so i dunno if this would effect an application...

hence why i ask what the definitive Requirements?

"Definite Requirements" are hard to put down as we try to take in people coming from various fields in order to improve the overall team. One might have worked years with testing but not necessarily within the games industry, while on the other hand the next person might have next to no experience in professional testing, but has extensive knowledge of our games (usually by spending hundreds of hours in them).

I would say, if you are interested, send in an application (people tend to think they have something to loose and do not send in their applications), and if it peakes everyones curiosity, we'll make sure to contact you and see where it leads from there.

The process will be ongoing until we've found the best possible candidates that we would like to see join the Paradox family, so we will have the application open as long as we feel like, but we are looking to fill the slots as soon as possibe. You also have to consider that we need to do all the intervjues either here in Stockholm, or through skype if the first vetting has been passed.
