I'm *very* new to the game (despite registering for this board a month ago) and have just started to play the Fantasia campaign as Ukraine. Since I am new, I decided to accept some of the easier missions in the game, such as keeping so and so province for 5 years, etc. When I do successfully complete these missions, I get a screen congratulating me, but no victory points. But when I fail to complete a mission that I select, I lose 100 points per mission.

What I am doing wrong? I really need the victory points considering that's the focus of the campaign.

Thanks.

When I start over, how will the other nations compare in terms of the VP's? I'm only good enough to complete the most basic missions, so I hate to start over and get killed in the contest for VP's. I also thought that I was doing fairly good for a new player; was that why? And did the AI have no incentive to attack because of this option being disabled? I did think it was rather odd that nothing major occurred.

I should mention that I was playing on the easy level.

Turn the missions off (my opinion). The missions tend to be arbitrary and sometimes they ask you to betray allies and such so it wouldn't even be smart to follow the orders. The game is very rich in the grand campaign (maybe not in the Fantasia one) and there is much to enjoy without doing the missions.

If you still want to do missions, just shut off the dynamic missions, but leave missions on. This allows you to accept the missions you want to do and ignore the rest. If you have dynamic missions on, then you are forced to accept missions you don't necessarily want to do.

Another question...

Thanks to both of you for the help, but I have one more question.

I waged a successful war against the Iroquois and had troops positioned on every single province that they had. I clicked on each province, and couldn't find any enemy troops, but I did find one fortress that was in poor shape. I burned down all of their trading posts, etc, but I couldn't completely take over their provinces, instead, each province was owned by them, but controlled by me. Why couldn't I take over the provinces, and wipe the Iroquois out? I actually waited so long for something to happen, that a colony of mine rebelled, so I quickly ended the war. I discovered that I earned a devastating victory, and extorted 3 provinces and 500 gold from my enemy, but that wasn't a whole lot compared to the amount of provinces that I controlled.

I'm sure that the manual has a section on this, but I'm not a big fan of reading game manuals.:D

I assume that you can't take-over the whole Iroquois territory because, in the Fantasia game, they have major power status.

Or is the Fantasia game different in this respect to the GC?
I tried once in "Age of Revolutions" to annex the US and was certain that I had all of their provinces but ended up just extorting a few from them and presume this was because they were a "major"

You posters are life-savers!

Really though, thanks for all the help to those who posted on this thread. I never even heard of the "major power" rule, and looking at the game now, I see that they were the third largest power in the game.

But anyway, here's a dumb question... why even go to war with a major power? It took *a lot* of manpower, money, and time to position my troops all over thier provinces, and all that I got out of it was 3 provinces, 500 gold, and -2 stability. I could have conquered countless unclaimed provinces with that force, without all of the trouble. Is there anyway to completely crush/annex the Iroquois, or will they always be around?

Why go to the trouble of occupying ALL of their provinces? Why not just take 3 that you want and the capital to boot to make them more tractable? Sign a peace when they offer you the three territories, wait 5 years and attack them again and take another 3 provinces! In the meantime, I assume you have other neighbors you can use this same tactic with? Eventually you will whittle them away to just their capital province which you can occupy.

A question on religion in the Fantasia campaign. Does it actually do anything(as it seems all settings are fantasy seetings(ie # diplos, merch and settlers)?
just curious.
Thanks
