I'm very curious about this new trade system. From what I can see it is trade routes and I would like to ask this, will it be like Rome's trade routes? Click and send them from your interior empire or go to another provenience and try to set up a trade route there.

I think trade routes will be possible to move through rivers, which opens up a new whole horizon about controlling inland provinces(rus trading with ottomans anyone? :p)

It's almost certainly the case that the trade system is reserved as the subject of a developer diary (or possibly multiple DDs) and as a result the developers are probably going to be pretty mute on the subject for now. We'll just have to speculate until then.

Will trade routes be dynamic? (IE will they be changeable in game by countries somehow)

There are obviously 'trade centers', if you will, where the trade routes go, Will these 'trade centers' be represented in the game in any way, shape or form 'officially'?

This man knows what he is talking about here. We have a new trade system, it is already fairly far advanced in implementation, but we won't talk fully about it until it is done. That way what we promise will be delivered.

While. we're kind of on the subject of developer diaries, Mr. King, would you care to speculate on when the developer diary cycle for EU4 can be expected to begin? Next month? Before the end of the year? Early next year? :)

Aye. Though I'd love to hear if you ever read I wrote here and what your thoughts are, though you guys probably have thought of something better. :)

To be frank I have no idea what the plan is for developer diaries. All I know is there will be some at some point

I want trade to be veeeery important! You should always want trade rights, whether you have to have good relations, bribe, or even have additional war demands/reverse demands. Trade routes and trade rights.

How well your merchants do should be based on something else, the whole trade hub and sending merchants was really lame. Controlling what merchants do and where to send them was.. ugh I don't want to think about it. Government creates the means and conditions to trade, they don't trade for you, they don't create "hubs".

I hope they will do something about free trade/mercantilism issues. Somehow it makes sense that a mercantile country must have its own trade provinces etc. But in fact most players in a MP setting are free traders...

I'm guessing the whole mercantilism/free trade thing will be reworked with the new trade system. Has it been confirmed that the good old sliders will still be on EUIV?
