Hello fellow console players! I’ve owed this game since the beta and love it. I play on Xbox one S and although performance in the late game has always been a little sluggish Ive lways been able to play as long as want.

I found it now crashes far too often since the newest dlcs have been released. I can barely get through the mid game anymore. Basically makes it unplayable with how often I have to reload. Is anyone else on PS4 or Xbox one finding this too?

My question is for those with an Xbox Series S or X - do you find the next gen consoles runs this game well? I may upgrade this holiday season and am hoping this will allow me to finally play this game again (among other reason to upgrade my console).

It seems to play ok on my series x, but I have to say in the colony view the scrolling stutters really bad. I didn’t see a whole lot of improvement going from my old VCR Xbox One to the Series X. I am still hopefull they will unlock higher performance options for Series X/S consoles, but I don’t know if this is something they are even considering at this point.

When you say you didn’t notice much difference do you mean this game or in general about the consoles
This game. The biggest improvement for all games is load times are way better. Some older games offer frame rate improvements, but unfortunately that option is not available for Surviving The Aftermath. There is auto HDR, but only if your TV supports it, and it works properly. My TV has HDR, but it won’t work right so I have it disabled. As far as graphics are concerned, STA is identical graphically on Xbox Series X as it is on Xbox One, as I believe it is running in compatibility mode. As far as crashing, I have not had any crashing so far on my Series X.

I went back and started a new save on my old Xbox One, and wow does the game run badly on it now. I certainly don't remember it playing so badly before. The game runs so slow that all the audio sounds like it is running at half speed. It is pretty much unplayable now. It is most certainly a lot better on the Series X. When I first upgraded from the old Xbox to the new Series X there was not a lot of difference as I said before. But now, with the updates, wow! It is like a night and day difference! Sorry, I did not realize it had changed so much. It will definitely work better on Series X.

And that is basically what I was inquiring about. Ended up upgrading to the series S anyway, but haven’t played the game. But yes, with each new update it just slowed down so much. Looking forward to eventually getting back into it on the next gen.

I am having same crashing problems with my PS4. Copy/pasted details from my original forum post below -

Surviving the Aftermath on PS4 keeps crashing on me. We have two PlayStation 4s and I’ve tried my game on both with the same problems/results.

When I started, I noticed the game moved slow and characters move at a glitchy, lagging place, buttons are sometimes non-responsive. It hangs a little every time switching screens whether to map view; trade menu, or save/pause menu. This was more manageable earlier in the game but since my settlement has gotten much larger (over 300 people) it’s gotten much, much worse. Now, the game has started crashing after 30-min to an hour of playing, every time.

Funny thing, even though it’s technically a PS4 game, when I play my same save file on PlayStation 5 it works perfectly

I have submitted a few crash reports through PS4 which usually send a screenshot and/or video of what happened before.

I’ve searched in the menu and can’t find any graphics settings I could turn down to help with processing power. It doesn’t seem like those settings exist for PS4.

Can Paradox please fix this in a future update? The game has now become entirely unplayable for me with constant crashing, and I’m considering returning it.

Is anyone else having these problems??
