First let me say, I love everything I've read about CK 3. The fact you're not trying to reinvent the wheel, only basically adding more depth to what was seriously lacking in CK 2 has me more giddy than you can imagine.
That being said, I read the dev blog about the buildings specifically for the counties, etc. and a few things stood out to me. I was wondering if I could get more details from someone who may know, or a dev.
1) I didn't see any "upgrades" just slots to build buildings. Do buildings and or main holdings not get upgrades anymore?
One of the big things about CK 2 is the idea that you're building up something. Starting from the early medieval era's, and going up. Upgrading your keep, walls, curtains, the towns itself, etc. Really helped add to the immersion through being able to imagine what your keep looks like compared to a neighbors. Does yours have tier 3 walls, and curtains? next to their tier 1? Imagine the splendor yours has in comparison. Perhaps a level 5 Keep, something like a well furnished mansion, and glorious looking rooms to make nobility blush. It's all those little things I loved about the upgrading. It really helped you determine how well of something was as well.
2) If there are just 5 slots to build something and that's it.. Where is the new money sink? Constantly having something to upgrade, and put money into, whether it be upgraded barracks, archers, horse stable, walls, keep, etc. etc. etc. Is what kept the strategy going in the game. You've expanded.. Do you keep upgrading your main holdings? What do you need to upgrade now? Perhaps walls aren't a necessity, perhaps your new target has lots of horseman , and you need to start upgrading the pikeman, etc.
Or perhaps you're falling behind on the upgrades compared to your potential future enemy, are you paying attention to that, or did you neglect it and now paying the price?
These are very important in the strategy side of Crusader Kings, and I'd hate to see that lost.
With now CK 3s new war system seems to work this this would be even more important than it ever was, and I"d hate to lose that depth through this new awesome system.
3) Are those buildings you build in the building slots upgrade able themselves?
