As you all know, there were plenty of wars during the time period this game is set in. Several of them could be consider proxy wars, with a nation armed with American equipment fought against nations armed with Soviet equipment.

How will this type of warfare be modelled in the game? There were several high profile re-arming missions that had significant impact on the world, such as the temporary oil embargo on the USA. Can we expect to see similar behavior regarding proxy wars, where nations of the similar idealogy as the one who is fighting against your proxy will want to take actions against you?

Can proxy wars expand? Or is a "proxy" war handled just like any other war? I would think that if nations are fighting a proxy war for the 2 superpowers that the 2 superpowers would have some say in the peace process, is this the case in the game?

Apologies if this has been answered before, seeing as the game is nearing the release date I figured now is as good time as any to ask questions like this.

My understanding is that you have 2 options. You can sell (or give away) equipment to your proxy (as in SR:2020+GC) or you can place your own units on the ground inside the proxy; they will then fight the proxy's enemies.

Example: Korean war. As Chinese or Soviet player, allied with North Korean, you move your troops into North Korea. They will fight South Korean or USA units, because North Korea is at war with South Korea. However, at no time are China/USSR at war with USA.

That is awesome!

FYI Barkhauer is correct, though this game mechanic introduces many "exceptions" that we will probably be explaining and tweaking past release because some "proxies" are grey areas, hard to define. The above example is a good clear one and we have already tested situations identical to this.
