One thing that I'd like to be fixed in betas, but barring that...

Whenever I quit the game, there is an approximately 40% chance that my desktop resolution will be forced to 800x600. Which is strange since my default resolution is 1024x768 both for EU and for Windoze. I recall seeing some posts to these effect, so it cannot be specific to my computer only.

Even more strange is that crash-to-desktop always restores resolution correctly.

If this is indeed some hard-to-fix bug, is there a quick-and-sure way to crash to desktop?

1st Lets move you to the correct forum, which is the support forum.
This was fixed for most people in 1.04 I think.
If this is still happening for you, rename your AVI folder to AVI_back and you should be fine.

well if you can't handle being mod for more than one game, I volunter to be a EU II mod....:D

The problem you report now only happens for people with win9x, which includes ME. It happens much less than before since about 1.05, but Johan has been unable to pin down the remaining cause of this problem, as he can't reproduce it.

As more and more people move to win2000 and XP it is declining in occurrence.

If there's any way you can move off ME onto at least Win2000 I would do that. It is a better OS anyway, IMO the best of the MS OSs, whereas ME is the worst. For instance none of the win9x OSs make proper use of memory over 64mb so half you RAM is virtually wasted.

If you do go to win2000 or XP you should get more RAM as well as it makes good use of it. I would recommend at least 512mb if your machine can take it.

Thanks AndrewT. I use W2000 at work but unfortunately it is not very likely that I'll be able to play EU there :)

But is there some quick and reliable way to crash the game? Crashing always restores desktop settings correctly for me.

open up save youdon't want to use anymoreand delete someentries and see if it gets corrupted.

then simply load that game everytime youwant to quit the game

It happens to me as well. I´d say about 50% chance. I don´t care that much about it though.

I use Win98, 1,4 MHz, 256 RAM, Geeforce2

Okay, sorry for the delay, MrT is away for awhile.

Upgrading your drivers could be helpful, ensure the AVI folder has been renamed to AVI_back, play the game at the same resolution as your desktop.
