my question is will the game be released on mac. secondly looking at the dd it looked like there was a servere lack of cities on the mac i am xcited by the game just concerned over the lack of cities

I imagine it will be released on Mac (most games I enjoy seem to be these days). As for the cities, well I think they are fine - the major trading centres in Africa and the East Indies are all included from what I can tell on the map.

ports require special harbours you can't just plop one day whereever... i would imagine that if it was to be realistic that the current trade ports are optimal and realistic...

And i think you would be more worried about securing trade opportunities and managing your fleet than figuring out which port to take over...

the bigger your fleet the more you have to trade, more money you need, more captains more stuff.. more more more... you have a 200 year period

each port you take over you neeed more money to manage it for upkeep and need to have more marines and ships garrisoning/patrolling, because the bigger you grow the more enemies you naturally make, the more your trading the more valuable your trade ships are to raid.. i feel that once you've taken at least 5 ports or so you'll have your hands full managing cash etc.

Yeah but if you have more ports, your enemy has less ports. :)

I know what you are talking about though... when I played Total War and started expanding, I was loosing more money than I was able to produce, and the only reason I managed to escape bankruptcy is cause I pillaged and plundered every single city. :p (and tribute and protection money ofc :p )

lol yeah... but true on the less competition front...

i suppose we shall waite and see on how hard it is to establish region control on a large scale... =D however if we want more ports there are always expansions ?? lol west indies/south america anyone.. further east into china ?? convict colonies (australia?)

i'm wondering does nitro/paradox plan on any advertising for this game ?? any banners on sites floating around etc.? or even gaming mags ? a commercial on tv ?

There are Dev Diaries posted on GameSpot (A popular game site) and there have been two previews (That I know of) posted on gaming web sites. The Anticipation is starting to build. There are also several ship previews on You Tube. I have been eating this stuff up.
