So, here's the big issue that some people like me didn't know for about a year.
Paradox Games, mods and utilites to run said games are stored on 3 locations:
* %appdata% folder (launcher is stored here)
* "My Documents/Paradox Interactive" folder (mods and settings are stored here)
* game installation folder (if you use steam, your mods will be stored here instead)
This is the advice: if you want to load the games as fast as possible, make sure all these 3 folders are on an SSD drive, specially the My Documents one if you use more than 10 mods on any game.
I recently had a massive reinstall plus reorganizing of all my files. I had PDX stuff stored on 3 different partitions (I had My Documents on an HDD drive...), and while things like Irony Mod Manager made it a non issue, having these 3 directories on the same SSD makes for a significant improvement, and as I said, make 100% sure you're running both the game and My Documents folder on the fastest SSD you have.
Cheers!
