When I last time tried Rome I was a bit disappointed with the options you have as celtic or other tribe (not that there are unrealistic) and so I wanted to ask if in the meantime one of the mods improved that experience. I was browsing through the descriptions, but they are sometimes a bit too vague.

What sort of things you are looking forward to do with tribes? It pretty much depends on that what we can do.

I don't have any specific demands. I just want to try a game where you have something to do as a tribe. Short example I remember. When I wanted to play in Britania, I could choose from 3 tribes. Both had very low population. Half the population of barbaric provinces right next to you, so it was hard just to survive. Not to mention getting those 50% civilization and 10 population to ever colonize any of that provinces. So the game was quite limited to trying to survive while beeing attacked by superior enemies.

But right now I am just trying to "kill" some time until MEIOU for EU3 or 1.3 patch for V2 gets out and I wanted to try Rome again. The problem always was that republics and monarchies were too complex to play. All those characters look alike and their names are too foreign and I get lost quickly. That's why I thought tribes may be worth a try.

Well gallic tribes have much more to do as they have someone to attack and so on. My opinion about british tribes isn't much better, you just have to go and first take down another tribe, then expand to northern gallia and then you're doing pretty nicely until Rome comes to visit you.

Some mods like Epigoni and Magna Terra add more population to tribes so you don't start with 2 freemen and 1 slave and 30 civilization.

I'm actually working on a mod with my friend to create some more tribes (and possibly some more developed country) around so there is more to choose from.

My idea for Galia and Britannia would be tribe in every province. This sounds much closer to reality and would make for a better game.

You should try the Epigoni mod, it's included a lot more states in Gaul and several other places. Increasing the number of total provinces overall and reduced the amount of barbarian provinces. And he's just updated it recently...

Thanks, I'll surely give it a try :)
