Are radars really worth it? I have used them in a bunch of games but never noticed any difference. Maybe I didn't reaserch it high enough the tech tree? Any comments ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

I thought this would be a realy coul AAR about a guy and his experiences at a Radar station during the battle of Britain but allas it was a HOI question.

Someone should really make an AAR like that!

Or any AAR with a title that looks like a GD question, but is actually an AAR related to that question!

the poor part here, isnt that a confused newbie posted in the wrong forum, but that the many passer-by still havent awnsered his question.

For my input..I hate radar. Not. Worth. It. Its stationary, and thus reactionary. The only nation id remotely consider it for would be britain, or perhaps a france. It's really the equivilent of air fortifications, and combined with AA it WILL chew up any fighters to the point that you can defend with inferior numbers of shoddy aircraft and do well..but the question is why you are pouring in multiple tech upgrades to defend provinces from the air.

I ignore radar entirely. To be fair though, I also ignore strategic bombers. Less direct, instant-gratification weapons arent very me.

It has been answered, in the correct forum. No need to worry.

And I like anonymous4401 notion of such a AAR. Would be fun to read.

A small nation that focus totally in radars and it is thus overrun in a matter of weeks?

Nice idea.

Once upon a time in on the borders of the Third Reich there was a small country which attempted to be completly neutral. They did not ally to anyone and where complete isolationists. Nevertheless their nature was one of complete curiosity and so they could not stand not knowing what their nieghbours where up to.

I so doing they had the had no army but a large inteligence service. They did research computers and radars. Of the last, radars, they build dozens a day until by the end of 1939 their land had more radar installations than their neighbours had planes.
This land, this small country was called Luxembourgh. How will they stand the oncomming waves of violence???

Chapter 1

On a cold and freezeing morning prime minister Zuikrgebakje of Luxembourgh walked the gardens of the Duchal palace with no less then the ArchDuke himself.

"Ain't she lovely. "

He said pointning at a brand new radar installation build recently in the Dukes backyard.

"It is a beauty and such a wonderfull birthday present, i could have wished nothing else" The duke said with a broad smile on his face while the set walked into the Duchal palace where a Corporal, the commander of the Luxembourgian army and a pilot 2nd class, commander of the Luxembourgian airforce sat. The last was folding a plane from a little piece of paper. Apparently he was expading his airforce with twice the force it now had.

"Before we start, may I present you to Super-Uber-Mega-Admiral Schwarschzx of the Luxembourgian navy, he will float our navy to victory."
Quickly the duke replied. "But, I thought we had stripped ourselves of our army and airforce in order to be able to build a reasonable amount of radar stations. "

"You are right Duchy but, Herr Adolf has some of these so called panzers. And now we thought, let us build ourselves a battleship in addition to radars. They will not expect it and be utterly surprised. What do you think." "Brilliant Zuikergebakje, that is such a splendid idea. Can I see her, can I see her."[/i]"Tomorrow Duchy, let us first look at the disposition of our radar stations. After all the battleship is only there for the surprise. We should have to defend ourselves with radar."

And the next moment they all stood, perched over a big table with a map of the great Luxembourgian empire, well, actually the small empire.

Wow, You got some imagination Singelton Moseby, tell my teacher and she will kiss you.

But actually, could you tell us HOW those radars are going to defend this small reich? :)

Shhht: they are no real radars, they are some sort of windmills throwing ping-pong balls into the air. Ping-pong balls filled with napalm.

Eh no, I do not know yet. I think the battleship has to do the job.
