"Rampaging Pirate" never showed up

He was supposedly rampaging outside one of the Indian ports. I acccepted the mission to go kill him and parked outside the port. Never saw him. I don't accept these missions often but when I have, I've always at least run into the pirate. Maybe I should have patrolled -- how wide is the zone in which the pirates rampage?

You should have looked for him further away. I always find them either sailing somewhere or coming back from some distant location. Never in close proximity to the port.

Now that's what I call a quick response! I guess I will set a large patrol route if I ever do this again. As a side note though, I've come to think these optional missions are more trouble than they're worth.

Start playing on Hard and every pathetic 10 000 from a mission would suddenly become a life-saver.

Seriously, on Hard you may lose cash even importing Silk and Tea!

Pirates are known not to keep their appointments you know

I generally find Pirates chasing English sloops and not hanging out just outside the port...look in a wider area.
