Some times the answer is the simple one. :)

The only other report I have had of this nature was with an old sound card. After the sound card was replaced it worked fine.
So maybe you want to look at seeing if there is also an update for your sound card.

Run dxdiag, run all tests, then save results to file and post as much as will fit in one post.

When you select save to file, Open that file in Wordpad, then copy and paste that info here.

Well your drivers are very old, look for a driver download area on the Laptop manufactor's site. or failing that contact their support people for details.

Well I have a Radeon, just not the Mobility version.

Why not contact fujitsu-siemens and ask them the procedure for installing the drivers they supplied to you.

Okay, let me know how that works out.

Okay, what refresh rate do you have set?

Okay, try bumping that up a bit at a time.

You could run the Dxdiag test, and see if it says anything.

Then the problem is not with EU2, since Dxdiag will crash when trying to run the test.
75 Would be a good standard to test at.

Well lets try and solve the problem so it does not crash in the first place. ;)

Okay if 75 was better lets try a higher one.
and yes Dxdiag will fail the test after a crash because it has not been reset, the game will not load after a crash like that either, for the same reason.

Okay let me know.

Top three tips to avoid random CTDs are as follows:
1) Rename the EU2 AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Set color depth to 16BIT
3) Make sure nothing is running in the background. like Virus protection, ICQ/messanger ...

You could play it in another application such as winamp.

Yes I have heard that before, often they will just cycle down the speed when they overheat as well. If yours is doing it on a regular basis I would send it in for service.
