Random CTD's

I am getting seemingly random CTD's while playing as Prussia in the GC. Ive had the game for about a week and a half and havent had any CTD's until just now. And yes, i am running 1.01 and renamed my avi folder to avi_back. System specs:
AMD Athlon XP 2600+ (2 GHz)
1 GB RAM
GeForce 3 Ti200 w/128MB DDR RAM
Sound Blaster Audigy sound card
DirectX 9.0b
Windows XP Home

And i have turned off all of my background programs except for Norton Auto-Protect, and my color depth has always been at 16 bit 1024x768 resolution.

get all latest drivers first.
then disable Norton Autoprotect. In the past, this had created problems for me with other games, including EU2.

I have up-to-date drivers for everything. Im a bit wary of turning off that norton stuff, it just caught a virus on my machine two days ago and since i have cable it comes in handy.

Turn it off to play then back on after if you are worried.
If you are really paranoid turn the power off in the modem.

Well i am behind a NAT router so as long as im not downloading or surfing the net while playing i should be alright.
