Have a frustrating problem with HOI2. (Had same problem with HOI.) Playing as Germany, I experience random crash events in both tutorials and single player scenarios. (Since I can't duplicate this, I'm not attaching a save file.) When this happens the screen flickers wildly for about one second and there is a sound like crackling electricity. My computer shuts down compleletly and automatically reboots. I have disabled the avi file as suggested and have nothing running in the background.
System Specs:
Game Version: HOI2 ver.1.00 (CRWK)
OS: MS Windows XP Home Edition ver 5.1.2600 service Pack 2 Build 2600
CPU and Speed: e-machine Model T5026, Intel Pentium 4, Processor 519, 3.06 GHz
RAM: 1,022 Mb, 1Mb L2 cache 533 Mb FSB
Free Disk Space: 131.87 Gb
Sound Card: RealTek High Definition Audio
Video: Intel 82915G/GV/910 GL Express Chipset (128 Mb
Direct X Version: DirectX 9.c
Purchased this unit in January and it has performed very well with other applications including some fairly complex games such as SuperPower.
HOI2 sure seems like a fascinating game. I would love to be able to play it in a stable environment.
By the way, XP offers the opportunity to run a program in "compatibility mode" Have not tried that, but wonder if anyone else has?
Thanks. Will sure appreciate any good thoughts/advice.
