Unfortunately the Vickywiki is down or I'd look this up there. Playing as Ottoman Empire in the current V:R VIP (0.3?), I switched to a democracy but can't maintain it because the reactionary party gets the most votes, and once elected they change to a presidential dictatorship. (There are only 2 parties: reactionary & conservative at present). My population is 85%+ conservative...but the problem seems to be that the reactionary party has moralism and the conservative party is pluralistic and so the conservative pops are voting for the reactionary party. I have tried eliminating/reducing tariffs but this still isn't helping - 65% of the pops express a preference for the reactionary party and only 35% for conservative...and when the presidential dictatorship is installed, pops just get mad and more reactionary. Any thoughts on how I can get out of this loop and get a normal conservative democracy with pops who vote conservative or liberal instead of reactionary?

You can avoid the prestige hit and turning to presidential dictator by changing youre voting rights as low as possible right after a reactonary or anarcho lib party is ellected. Youll stay in democracy but you will have to have a normal party in power again by the time you want to change back to suffrage, and youll have to get it ellected by a voting campaign.

Vip has quite a few party's like that. I guess it makes the game somewhat more interresting, as withought Vip i usually had no trouble at all with millitancy because of politics.

Well as i said you can avoid the presidential dictatorship. You can also try to split up the reacionary vote by turning half of the reactionary's into clerks, wich will make them anarcho liberal. In youre case i guess you could go landed right after the reactionary's get ellected, and then convert most of reactionary's to clerks, wich should give the conservative party a larger chance of getting ellected, so then you can change back to suffrage.
