Watching some rebellions break out around me and I noticed that rebels, if they take one province, will move on. Good. But they always move to another of your provinces. In other words, peasant revolutionaries respect national boundaries. This seems a bit much. For example, why would a peasant uprising in a Bohemia under Austrian control not spread to Moravia under Hungarian and Silesia under P-L control?

So my questions:

1. Have I just not seen it or will peasant revolutionaries ignore boundaries?

2. Does a peasant revolt in one provinces raise the revolt chances in another. In other words, can you get a general peasant uprising in all of the eastern Holy Roman Empire? I think this would be a kinda cool feature.

1) Yes, rebels will ignore national boundaries. I've had rebels from other countries march into my territory.

2) Check the revolt risk factors when you have a rebellion. I think I remember seeing a slightly increased chance of rebellion when a neighboring province had been taken by rebels.

I think rebels are quite happy conquering provinces of your nation. Never seen them cross the borders. But if you say so, Dark Knight, i won't argue
But answer to your question nr 2: neighbouring rebels increacis chance of revolt by 2

havent had this happen yet , but can a rebel nation actually thrive and become like the others? I have encountered limited revolts, but nothing long term

odd % chance

The one thing I don't get is the revolt risk value. I am frustrated with the fact that a province of mine that has a 2% revolt risk will revolt practically every year. This sure is irritating , and with such a 'low' revolt risk it seems like I am always fight rebels!!!!!

P.S. I have a Legal Council , and a mayor in this particilar province. A level 3 fortress. Level 6 infrustructure, and 30k cavalry in said province....ggrrrr

I´m not 100% sure about this, but I think I´ve also seen rebels crossing borders. And if my memory serves me well, this was always in times of war. So maybe they can only cross borders between countries which are at war with each other?

They can break away and form a new country, so theoretically yes they can go on to thrive. Personally I would like to be able to do something to encourage other power's provinces to revolt. Playing France I had Navarra as a good ally until during a war with the Spanish they became annexed by Spain. :( I would love to be able to restore their sovereignty rather than just take the province off the Spanish. I suppose it wouldn't be very historical for a prince to encourage rebel peasant scum in another country, just not cricket don't you know, but restoring a former power with whom you were allied seems reasonable to me. I would accept any expenditure, any badboy value, any commitment of my own troops to once again ride in the field with my brave lost allies of Navarra (and with this the great king dropped his head to the table and unashamedly wept . . . )

Rebels crossing borders happen all the time in my game. France had taken over 2 Venetian provinces, they revolted and a 30k rebel army decided to visit me in my province in Styria.

Hail Krestel,

Hmmmm...If this is the case it would seem that the 2% is cumalative considering how often they are revolting.I did think about that , but figured 2% was just too low for per month rebelions

The 2% value is the monthly risk of a revolt uprising. But to calculate the probability that a revolt will NOT uprise during a year, you simply need to calculate:

(100% - revolt risk, say 2%) = 98%

and then

98% * 98% * 98% * ... (12 times)

you'll get a value of about 78%. So even with 2% monthly revolt risk it is 22% per year likely, that a revolt will uprise.

As for rebellions (re) creating counties that go on to greatness, in my latest GC, Bavaria was swallowed up by Austria. Austria later got knocked down by a large badboy coalition, and Bavarian re-emerged as a two province minor. It then managed, in a series of alliance wars, to grab 3 provinces, and by the 1700s they were the biggest minor in Germany.

Hail The Hulk,

Your numbers are not that encouraging......damn you :D

In my current game I have seen the Dutch rebels take over half Northern France and even Paris before the French started to take notice :D

In that same game, where I was England, when I switched to protestantism, I got a civil war on my hands. My Home Army revolted and went around the land taking half my provinces. I had to build a new army from scrap. It was named the Army of Scotland. Then I one at a time took back the provinces.

But where was the rebel army ? I then noticed they had gone to Scotland, kicked an army twice their size arses, sieged the capital which fell and with it consequently the governement :D Now they have a pro catholic English government in Scotland while I got an Army of Scotland controlling a Lutheran country :D

Really once you think about it rebels really shouldn't cross national borders. They have enough to deal with than to get themselves into trouble with another nation. If that were to happen then they would have to greater powers after them.

I don't know if this has been mentioned because I didn't read all the posts.
