Reconstrucción del antiguo Virreinato del Río de la Plata (an Argentinian HPP mod AAR)

Hello everybody! Welcome to my second AAR, the first one finished in a New Germanic Order. This time I'll try the HPP mod with my own country, and lets see what happens...

My goals will be:

1) Conquer most of the land that the Spanish Crown put under the authority of the Viceroy of the Rio de la Plata after the Treaty of San Ildefonso (1777)
2) Align myself with the Axis
3) Occupy the Falkland Islands (this time for good )
4) If none of the previous can be achieved, survive through the war at least

1st January 1936 - 1st January 1937 (Part One)

There was a lot of joy and noise in the streets... It was New Year's Eve after all, but in the Casa Rosada, no one was celebrating. Plans needed to be done: The time has come to rise as a new Power... the Hegemonic State of the South... that was part of the Speech the President gave to those important enough to be invited to that secret meeting. Some agreed with every word they heard, others feared they were listening to a mad man, but were not brave enough to say anything against the plans drawn in the air.

The first step was easy: Argentina needs a powerful ally which might help her in the tasks the future will bring... the only country they though was Germany. The Army and the Air Force, both pro German, were eager to collaborate with the Facist Regime in Berlin. The Navy, was not so sure... Of course, they were the anglophile part of the meeting.

Nothing could the Admirals do, it was decided to align the country towards the Germans

The Second part of the meeting, was much more open and debate took place until the break for lunch. It was a simple, yet hard question: what should we reclaim? Uruguay? Paraguay? Southern Chile? all what was named before? the treaty of Saint Ildefonse was a tricky argument... the borders were not totally drawn and the fact was that the half part of the country was never under jurisdiction of the Viceroy, it took 60 years of war and campaigns against the natives to control the Patagonia... a race against the clock, since the Chileans felt they had the same or more right to those lands... and even now, the border with Chile was not totally formalized. Finally, the decision was made: we will reclaim all and more:

the time started to pass, and with it more news were arriving from outside the country:

the US are weak, it is time to advance in our own goals: for that, new laws must be passed:

not everyone was happy though

Dissent will be crushed

Yet, it was on the international front where our success will be decided: on the home front, 2 medium bomber wings and a new infantry brigade were ordered... of course, we lack the industrial capacity of the Great Powers, so we´ll have to wait a while for the airplanes to come

the British decided to recruit some Gurkhas, but the most interesting thing was that Germany could do whatever she wants and the Allies let her... we are on the other side of the world, so we guess they won't do anything if war breaks here in the South

1st January 1936 - 1st January 1937 (Part Two)

The Army, foreseeing it future expansion, started to take important decisions about it future operative doctrines:

We lack the manpower to field large armies, so every soldier must posses an overwhelming firepower... and if the enemy is shocked, the better

The treaty of London was a fiasco: even those who signed it, started to gun up or upgrade their own old ships

Finally, a new war has started, just at the door of France: Nationalists and a mix of Republicans and some other link-wing groups started to kill each other in Spain

Soviet Union, Italy and Germany intervened in a direct way, while others did it too, but no directly

After six months of heroic resistance, Etiopia is now a part of the Italian Empire, meanwhile, George V passed away, and was succeeded by his Son, Edward VIII, a pro German... Attempts to make him resign were fruitless

Finally, more news from Europe:

And no, the US is not guaranteeing none of my neighbors, but they won't be happy with the fact that I am playing in their backyard...

1st January 1937 - 1st July 1937

The home front was quiet: our industries were still struggling to deliver the bombers and the equipment needed to form 4 support brigades. Besides the fact our industry will always be behind our needs, nothing really interesting happened in Argentina... the rest of the world was something different:

the Reds keep with their purge of old supporters of Trotsky, or people Stalin simple dislikes. As if it were not enough, the Chinese warlords started to fight each other

the war between Mao and the Nationalists still rages on in the mountains of central China too

The London treaty was left behind by all their signers:

England followed a few days later, at the same time a great notice for the anti-communists:

Finally, our first bomber wing was ready for action: not the best nor the most up to date equipment, but will do the job

More important, it was decided a highway between Buenos Aires and Bahia Blanca (our two naval/air bases) was required and so, all funds we could spare went to the construction of such an Autobahn

Germany asked us to signe the Anti-Commitern Pact, thing we did very happy... besides, now our neutrality was low enough to start our expansion program

On the 1st July 1937 we declared war on Uruguay... the goal: total annexation. The US, though not guaranteeing the little country's independence, was not happy at all:

and so, it begins...

1st July 1937 - 4th November 1937

The Uruguayan War

from the first moment, everything went wrong: We do not know how, but the enemy Army was much bigger than expected: we threw to war 2 cavalry (3xCav) and 4 infantry (3xInf + 1xSupp/horses) divisions, but we found out that Uruguay had 3 infantry divisions and some militia units ready for war... we managed to cross the river Uruguay at a low cost, but the time needed was astonishing: almost two months!

our cavalry divisions were able to cross the river near to the Brazilian border, thus allowing us a foothold on the other side... resistance all across the river ceased once the line was broken:

we are so bad, we were amited into the Axis

You can say whatever you want about the Uruguayan Army, but not that it was lacking courage:

Delaying the inevitable and making us pay costly our rightful invasion

an attempt to recapture San Jose ended with some dead, plus, our naval bombers were able to destroy the only ship in the enemy navy:

and of course, the US is feeling threatened with reason... our mighty army will march into Washington... some day

Finally, the resistance in the north is crushed... at a high price in lives:

In the South, only Montevideo and Maldonado are still battles raging on...

Once Montevideo felt in our hands, all the troops laid down weapons and the little country became a province of Argentina again

And get a very interesting notice:

The war was really expensive in lives and resources... I think I am not prepared yet for a grand war of conquest... I tremble when I see the amount of troops the Chileans have... for the next 2 years, the Army will be expanded and we will be as peaceful as lambs

I'm going to second Ikar. Unless they've mobilised already, you can quickly blitz them without too much trouble.

He needs certain amount IC and units to get requirements for the another "level".

I'll follow the conquests of La Plata and see how South America is dominated by one big Country, without doupt you would probably be the biggest country in the world, after the war of course.
