IMO the U-turns on two-way streets are out of control.

I can put roundabouts at both ends of a road and there will still be several cars flipping around to enter/exit parking spots.

This is most noticeable when there is a line of cars in the opposite lane blocking them. It creates a predictable traffic nightmare as the car will sit forever waiting for the other lane to clear so that they can make an unnecessary U-Turn. It becomes absurd when a car in each direction decides to pull this stunt and then both directions of traffic will lock up.

I know people drive like idiots IRL but this is too much. They should at least (strongly) prefer the intersections/roundabouts, rather than stopping indefinitely in the middle of a busy street.
Alternatively, they could not try to pull a U-Turn unless their path is unobstructed.
Another solution would be to put a timer on how long they will wait; if there is no way to make a U-Turn, they should attempt a different maneuver.

Good luck with that.
In about 3.8 seconds there will be someone here telling you to install mods instead of pressuring the devs to fix a fundamental issue that is the main cause of traffic jams in the game.
Reported about a 1500 times and still no results.

I personally have an answer to this brilliant recommendation. The most popular mod for controlling the direction of traffic at intersections is crashing the game for me. If I change nodes thanks to it. That's it, the next session will be a game breakdown

I come here (from a long hiatus) to second this. The problem arises because cars are looking for the same parking spots which get filled while they drive there, they _immediately_ make a u-turn in front of oncoming traffic. They also constantly change lanes in the middle of crossroads (at the traffic lights).

It can't be fixed by the player, unless you make _every_ road have medians and disable u-turn everywhere. The crossroad problem is even worse, because some start doing six point (not three point) turns in the middle of the intersection, thankfully usually other cars clip through these.

Multiple lane filling is also too aggressive. Cars will try to fill all (turning or straight) lanes only to switch back (over multiple lanes) at the traffic lights, blocking all traffic.

I'm sure if this ridiculous behaviour was somehow curbed the traffic would run smoother and would require less CPU cycles.

Kudos to this post. Everyone here is pressuring me to use mods to fix traffic, economic, and demand issues ... The game should be free from these issues, to begin with ...

F those who think mods are going to fix what the developers haven't (not that its the developers fault) The game shouldn't have came this un-finished no matter how much I want to love it. It has gotten better. And I hope it continues to get better.

Btw. Those who play with mods, I recommend this mod to *help* with this problem, I think this should be the default behaviour in the game:
The reroute distance and maximum demand help a lot.
I personally don't like adding invisible parking spots, but the mod thankfully lets you disable/edit that part separately.

For the sake of GFN and future console players, mods can't be a solution to all base game issues. The vanilla version must tackle this challenges and provide appropriate tools.
