Regent rules while travelling herself

Description​

Just started a fresh vanilla campaign in 867 as the duke of flanders, my wife was first in line for being the regent.
Early on I get an invite from another vasal for a falconry hunt, me, my wife and some other courtiers depart together.
Despite my wife joining me on my travel and thus being outside the realm herself she still became the ruling regent which seems illogical. I expected the second in line for regency to rule who stayed home.
Unfortunately no savegame or screenshot, it was an ironman game and I was pretty excited to play on so I forgot.

Steps to reproduce​

-Have wife be your prefered regent
-Be invited to falconry hunt
-Wife joins you and travels to hunt aswel
-Wife still acts as regent despite being outside the realm herself
