The problem with the links maybe due to the fact that the forums still use two different addresses. http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/ and http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/index.php you are probably logged into one and hit a link to another that goes to a thread that you must be a member and thus logged in to see, such as an OT thread.
Try logging in to both.

As for the Name you can send an E-mail to forum-admin@europa-universalis.com

Use the mail link I gave you in my first post, all Account modification must go through that e-mail address.
I don't see how that message could have apeared just to view the forums.
But check with that mail address maybe give them a link to this thread.
