REGNUM IUDAEORUM
A FANTASY MOD FOR EUROPA UNIVERSALIS: ROME
Current version: 1.0
Compatible With EU:R Version 1.2!
May 24th, 2008

Under Development: Version 2.1
Compatible With VV version 2.3.2!
Work begun April 7, 2012

DOWNLOAD VERSION 1.0!!! HERE.

PLEASE remember to delete your current version of Regnum Iudaeorum before installing version 1.0!

There used to be a forum for this mod, but I have since lost access to it as a moderator, and I believe it has been dead for quite some time anyways. If absolutely necessary, I will create a new forum, but I think we will be just fine here.

Firstly, I would like to give credit to Vladislav. His idea of creating a nation of a lost Jewish tribe is what inspired this mod. His mod is A lost tribe of Jews. However, this is where the similarities stop. Our mods are quite different.

What is Regnum Iudaeorum?
Regnum Iudaeorum is a fantasy mod for EU:Rome (as the name implies). It is based on a "what if?" scenario. What if the lost ten tribes of Israel didn't disappear from history? Well, in Regnum Iudaeorum, they didn't. In the chaotic fall of the Assyrian and Babylonian Empires the Ten Tribes found their chance to escape the tyranny of the Eastern Empires once and for all. A Second Exodus took place, in which the people migrated north through the Caucasus and then west across the Stepppes and into Europe. After crossing a great body of water, they encountered a strange new land, a new Canaan for them to settle... Britannia.

Does this mod only focus on the Lost Ten Tribes of Israel?
No. While the Lost Ten Tribes (who in this mod now live in the Kingdom of Ephraim) are the main focus of the mod, other changes have been made as well, to make the game more immersive. A list of changes can be found further down in the "Features" section.
_______________

Features:
New Factions: The Kingdom Of Ephraim, the Trinovantes, the Catuvellauni, the Ordovices, the Coritani, the Brigantes, the Votadini, the Caledonii, the Robogdii, the Blanii, the Nagnates, and the Iverni
New Flag For The Kingdom Of Ephraim (courtesy of etycaj and Soarom)
Improved Combat (minimizes ping-ponging. courtesy of Keraunos and his Improved Military Mod)
Non-Tribal Governments Now Have 1 Extra Idea Slot
More Historic And Realistic Hebrew and Greek Names
Many Pre-Existing Factions Given More Accurate Names (still in progress)
Provinces In Britain Renamed
Briton Culture Group (Sub-Cultures Are Britannic, Pictish, And Hibernian)

Changes and additions in version 1.0
-Additions:
--Hebrew sub-culture added to South Levantine culture group
-Changes:
--"Boundary Dispute" event MTTH reduced from 3800 to 1500
--"Old Age" in defines.txt changed from 40 to 50
--Jehu's age reduced from 39 to 24
--All characters in the Kingdom of Ephraim, as well as the provinces of Cantim and Demnon, should now be Hebrew culture
--female names for South Levantine culture group changed to be more Hebrew, just as male names were since the beginning of the mod

YOUR HELP NEEDED! Even though version 1.0 has been released, there is still a lot that we can do to improve the mod! Here's what we're looking for:
GRAPHICS MODIFICATIONS: A new set of city and unit gfx for the South Levantine Culture Group, as opposed to the Seleukid gfx they currently have.
HISTORICAL RESEARCH: More historical names for existing factions needed. Historical Context for events.
EVENTS: We need someone with skill at event scripting to write events for the mod.
If you are at all interested in one or more of these fields, please, register at our forum and offer your services there. We would be more than happy to have you join the team. And ofcourse, anyone who provides even the smallest bit of help will not be forgotten. We will make sure your contributions are mentioned in the credits!

Sounds fine, but :p it's still kind of ridiculous to think they made it to brittania
Very true. Which is why this isn't an alternate-history mod, but rather a fantasy mod. :)

I can't wait for this to release, good luck.
I can't wait to release it!

If there is any way you could contribute, it would make the process go much faster. Especially with graphics modifications. I'm no good at those. I definitely need a new flag. And if it all possible, a new unit sprite as well, but that's not really a necessity.

I could probably help make a flag if you're willing to find to one - or i can just give you my flag of israel i've already made, it isn't the best though.

Could you show me a picture of your flag? I'd like to see it before deciding whether or not to use it. :)

BTW, check out the Screen Shots I just posted in the second post!

Here it is - also that looks really nice, although i suggest getting possibly a lighter color (i'm a sucker for light blue) and the capital being moved to Dumonni(sp?)

Oh, you did the flag for Vladislav's mod? That's cool. I like it, but if possible, I'd rather not use the same flag he has. I will do some research and try to find a different flag. But if I can't find one, then I would be happy to use yours.

I'm definitely going to make the blue much lighter. I don't really like that dark blue either.

If you don't mind my asking, why do you think I should move the capital?

As for ping pong, I advice to try my mod ;) Tested, ping pong is definitely gone, so are strange units bonuses...

That's good, and because of barbarians - i've made myself a little nation in Britannia and they always seem to go for that province instead of Dumonnii(sp)

I will definitely look into incorporating your mod into my mod.

Hmm, I will consider it. Let me do a few test runs of my own to see if that happens to me, too. If it does, I will make the change. But I do like the capital where it is, so if possible, I'd like to keep it there.

I tried without any success to find some sort of interesting and accurate symbol to use for Ephraim. So what I ended up deciding to try was a flag with the name of the Tribe written in Hebrew. So here it is, tell me what you think of it?

That looks pretty cool, and it'd probably work too - my only complaint is that it looks a bit off, by that i mean pixely if you know what i mean, let me know if you need help making it into a flag,

You're right, it is a bit off. :eek:o I will fix that at once!

And yes, once I have it fixed, I would be very thankful for your help in converting it into a flag!

Well, could you e-mail it to me in .tga format? My e-mail is listed in my profile. But I'll list it here as well.

EDIT: Here is the fixed version:

Okay, I've added the new flag that I designed and that etycaj coverted into flag format. I've also made Ephraim's country colour a lighter shade of blue. You can see both changes in the first picture of the screenshots. Tell me what you think.

I personally think the color of the nation should be toned down just a tad bit more, if possible - otherwise it looks nice, A suggestion is that you should make some more tribes besides just Ephraim. perhaps some more nations in Britannia to fight against?

I've been adding tribes into Britain just like you suggested, etycaj. The first two went perfectly: the Trinovantes and the Catuvellauni. The third tribe I have made thus far, the Ordovices, work just fine, except for the fact that they start the game at war with themselves. Any idea why?
