Regular Marriage yet children are of house of the mother

I've seen this happen a few times where the children of a ruler (e.g. duchess or countess) were concieved within a regular marriage yet became of the house of the mother instead of the father. it happened 2 times within branches of my family that i know of and a few more times within other families.

is there a reason for this? or is it a bug?

Hard to tell, they shouldn't be of their mother's dynasty, do you have a save file?

yes i do, but its now of patch 1.03b is that a problem? should i e-mail it? i can also post a screenshot if i can still load my save game.
