HELP!! I'm getting desperate here. I'm trying to reinstall plain HOI2 (no add-ons or expasions) on system running Vista. The original disk shattered in drive and I had to replace both. I know drive is good as I have installed other programs. I'll explain as best as I can what is going on. A menu pops up asking for permission to allow or cancel. Click on allow. The install menu comes up. My choices are install, uninstall, play, and exit. Of course I click on install then installshield wizard starts. Maintenance menu pops up next. Options are remove or repair. Whether I click on either or or cancel button the screen switches over to installation screen---status bar showing percentage of game installed. Nothing happens on this screen. After short time the finish menu pops up. Going back to install menu install button is grayed out, but other buttons aren't. I click on play hoping that it might work even though nothing really was installed. Hitting unistall button takes me back to staus screen. I followed instructions listed in one of the posts here to clear out my registry. The only thing I can pull up is temp Paradox interactive folder with HOI 2 subfolder. I delete that and try to reinstall. Still nothing. Am I missing step or what the heck is going on? I really need some help as I enjoyed this the last time I played it and I have nothing else to do. Hope this makes sense. If anybody needs any more details let me know.
