Ok guys, let's talk realistically. The relase of Christmas time would be good (hot damn, even that seems like an eternity now that I've heard about the game!) but is that just a hopeful? Computer games are not known for their timely relases anyway. I would think some time in spring would be a more realistic idea. What do u Paradox guys say? Howsbout some comments from the fourm, too.

Christmas 2001 seems optimistic, but it really depends on when design and development started. For all we know, they might've been plugging away at it for a good long while already.

Presumably, they wouldn't have announced a release date unless they saw a reasonable chance of hitting it. The xmas season is critical, financially: About 80% of game sales are made between November and January.

I would much rather see Paradox take their time and get version 1.00 right than rush an unpolished product for xmas. As Galadriel said, there's a lot of competition from high-profile titles during the xmas season.

Nah, that would really hurt CivIII sales bad, yes... ;)
 
Personally, I like EU much better than the Civ series.

I think they've started development a long time ago. They already have a couple of screenshots up; if they have some screen shots they have to have at least the framework for the game put in, and over the next three or four months they can tweak the game. But then again, I'd rather wait till Feb. or March if it makes the game a lot better.
 
Let the guys take their time, I'm tired of buggy games rushed out for xmas.....and anyway, we have the Shogun expansion and civ3 to help us wait. Oh, and Stronghold is coming out too. An spring 2002 release is ok with me......but I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We do not know yet. But I would bet rather much that the chrstmas release is for US not Sweden, how much of the rest of the world will be included only the gods(also known as the Paradox EU2 team:D) know.
