One of the things I found very odd in the original game was how in the early game the other countries really cared about wars going on between heretical or different religion countries. That was simply not the case, in the early game, when two countries of the same religion fought each other; it was viewed as a good thing. As the game went on the balance of powers became more important, but the ottomans annexing the Egyptians would cause almost no reaction from the Christian world in 1500, unless there was a major shift in power balance because of it. What I am saying is, in the early game inter-religious fighting should not get same reaction from other religions if they are from a different religious group as they would react if two of their religious brethren were fighting each other.
