Hey all :)

Please help I'm trying to fix my game graphics and I'm fast running out of ideas. Basically when I load the game, when the map swings up into overhead view lots of black triangles and squares appear. This stays whichever game overlay I use (e.g. terrain, de jure kingdom, religion).

The game was working absolutely fine two days ago, but yesterday went like this. It's the only game I've seen so far where it has happened though it is one of my newer games. I was trying to fix a problem with Sims 2 yesterday so I was trying uninstalling/reinstalling my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500/5100 Series Display Adapter and direct x and I confess to learning as a I go so I may have done something wrong, but I did get Sims working again. So I don't know if something could of conflicted/gone wrong.

My computer is:

My direct x is:

I did:

Look at system restores but I only had about six from yesterday. The oldest one failed when I tried it and the next oldest from that seems to of been after the problem occurred.
Uninstalled/reinstalled/updated my drivers to latest (I think). Steam tells me there's an error as the updater is currently available when I click the driver in the quick launch.
Uninstalled/reinstalled/updated my direct x to latest (I think). I did the uninstall by deleting the direct x line in the registry. Could there be something I have not reinstalled here correctly?
Run registry cleaner.
Deleted the game settings file.
Uninstalled/reinstalled crusader kings 2.

Somewhere someone mentioned turning anti-aliasing off but in catalyst control center I only see the option to raise or lower the level, or a checkbox to let games decide.

Any help much appreciated!
Thanks!
Lavea

It does look very much like a video driver or video card problem. please post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the "Sound devices" section for brevity), settings.txt, system.log and error.log files (you'll need to rename the .log files to .txt to upload). Also open setup.log, search for "checksum", and paste that line only in here.

YAY!!! /dances

I did another uninstall/reinstall of catalyst control center/amd driver and it seems to be working again. If anyone else gets this problem sorry I've no idea what I did wrong first time or what I did differently this time but reinstalling it again seems to of worked.

WOOT! Thanks for getting back to me Andrew.

You could try uninstalling your video driver (so using the MS default) and Catalyst, rebooting, then installing those again fresh.

Will try it again but i did that already without any success. Also tried a complete uninstall/reinstall of the game but still the same. Im aware that the latest amd driver are having problems. Some issue about catalyst still showing 12.3 instead of 12.4 but i was told the driver should work properly.

If you are having the same problem as Lavea, as you say, then you'd think the same solution would work too. I see you both have AMD Radeon 4500 video, although his is Mobility while yours is not.
