Problem
After selecting a scenario and nation the game crashes to desktop. I have tried several different scenarios to ensure this was not event based

Background
Had EU running then EU2 on a desktop. Wanted to install EU2 due to upcoming travel, first problems I have had. HOI loads and plays. I have tried playing with EUsettings.exe to change display resolution, but it does not make a difference.

hoping for a solution......

First thing to always try is renaming your AVI folder to AVI_back.

Tried it, no luck.

Also, I tried EU2 unpatched, and EU2 1.05, uninstalling and reinstalling each time.

Are there any common dlls which might be installed by HOI?

I'm thinking of uninstalling HOI and EU2 then reinstalling EU2

OK got it working.

Took off HOI, took off EU2. Reinstalled EU2 then patch 1.06. Renamed avi dir.

EU2 loaded, started a campaign. Haven't played yet but it looks good. Was able to change resolution and fire it up in both modes.

Will put HOI on later and hope nothing changes.

Don't know if this was a coincedence, or something was not uninstalled previously.

Hard to tell. I'd guess possibly something not installed correctly since IIRC there are no dlls added by either game. I have a very similar system setup to yours on my laptop and have no trouble with both games installed. I did experience a very similar crash error to the one you describe and it was a lingering after-effect of the Binkplayer that would only go away after I had renamed the avi folder so I'd recommend that you do that anyway. Incidentally...when I had that happen it only went away after I had done a cold reboot.

Glad your problems seems to be solved. :)

Also...give yourself a really big pat on the back! You are one of the few people who took the time to read the stickies and supply the requested info in his first post. Good for you!!!

Thanks Mr T.

Well I put HOI back on and no problem. I think that must have been coincedence and something was left over during previous EU un-installs which I got rid of with the last one.

Thanks for the help, and the speed of replies on the forum.

Our pleasure. :)
