Curious: What is the reason a player is not allowed to reset his achievements?

If this question has already been answered in the forum, I have not been able to find the answer. Would other readers point me to the answer? (Or, if my premise is mistaken, if one can indeed reset achievements, would other readers tell me how?)

If this question has not been answered, then, when a developer has time, would he answer it?

To be clear: I do not ask how many or how few players wish to reset their achievements; but only why players who do wish to reset their achievements may not do so.

To me, two issues are somewhat related: (a) the ability to play past versions; and (b) the ability to reset achievements. Past versions are more important, thanks, but the two issues are still connected in my mind. To me, achievements are not extremely important but, nevertheless, would it not be trivial to let a player reset achievements, if he so wished?

One suspects that some business reason exists. I just wondered what it were.

Doesn't at least CK2 have a wipe_achievements command?
