Not that I know much coding, but since the devs stated in the post mortem dev diary that they are currently not planning on making republics, theocracies and infidels playable.
Now, I know that there are mods for opening them simply for play, but why not try ourselves and make a Republic (and Theocracies) improvement mod, where they become playable with events and unique
decisions, laws, dynastics and playstyle provide a unique feel for those government types?

Also, as i said at the start I know little of modding myself so feel fry to pick up on the idea :)

Btw, this was supposed to have been posted in the User Modifications-thread, so can you please move it moderators :)

How about a major mod to make things straight? Everything playable, fix the map, fix ortodox, fix plots/ambitions, fix pagans, all that little stuff that keeps us grumbling?

I would like to join such initiative.

Activly playing as theocracies or republics could be really hard, since its hardcoded that you lose, when your heir is not from your dynasty, isnt it?

So, you would need to be able to change the succession laws to be completly unrelated to the real succession republics or theocracies actually had.

No, search my thread about being a pope. you do not lose, it is just unplayable if unmodded and not fun if you mod the absoulution spam.

How about adding a set of unique titles to the "electors" of a republic and theocracy to model a trade republic for example? Then adding a sucession law based around the elective law?
