Hey, I was thinking about how the naval techs in this game work, and how once you build a ship it can never be upgraded. Well, what if there were some option to retrofit/modernize a ship? This could make the ship unusable for a while and add it to the production screen, and upgrade it to the most modern tech that you have for that type of ship. Anyone agree?

Thats something everybody want for years. I think there is something close to it in AoD and you should also propose it to the DH developer team.

I like the way that HoI3:SF changes artillery brigade to self-propeled artillery. Lowering the costs unit is put in production screen, The retrofitting should be possible like this.
Some things shouldn't be possible - changing the hull for example - increasing the seadefence - In gameterms this would be very hard to do.
A small mod could possibly do the trick. Make all upgreadable parts of ship an upgreadable brigade. But thats just a workaround. HoI3 puts every ship element as a separate element, that after small modding can all be upgreadable.
