This is a RFI, eg Request for improvement.

As new monitors have been available on the market for quite some time, it could benefit to somehow inquiry the operating system for available resolutions.
For example I am running 2 monitors that have 1680x1050 and 2560x1080 resolutions respectively, and I prefer to run the game on the Ultra-wide screen ;)

When I use "Fullscreen" the game uses the full width, but when using "Fullscreen windowed" I can only use the 1920x1080 max setting with black on the sides...
(I use the windowed version to be able to read and post on the forum while the game is running)

Okay, I did definitely not edit the settings ;)

There is a resolution setting in Documents\Paradox Interactive\Surviving the Aftermath\settings.ini, but I'm not sure it's used. There are also resolution settings in the registry (open regedit) at Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Iceflake Studios\Surviving the Aftermath, which determine windows/fullscreen/borderless.

I think Windows sometimes defaults to higher DPI settings when it detects high-resolution monitors. You can check by right-clicking on your desktop and choosing the Display settings.

Maybe @tapani_ifs can shed some light as to why the user data is spread over three locations (the two above and AppData\LocalLow)

Hmmm I will try tweaking the registry key(s) in question to see if it makes a diff, the ini file does not have any resolution setting inside only a mode...
Thanks

Ok I just tried with the regkey and it seems to work :)
Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Iceflake Studios\Surviving the Aftermath\Screenmanager Resolution Width_h182942802
The numbers on the end of the keyname might differ for your installs...
I have it set to a00 (hex = 2560 dec).
The game screen is now full width, although the menu etc is still 1920x1080...

Have you also changed the height? ;)

Maybe you also need to change your resolution in the settings.ini.

Use Regedit goto
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Iceflake Studios\Surviving the Aftermath

look for Screenmanager Resolution Height_h2627697771
You can see the value on the far right Right-click & modify > change to decimal>input the value you want it at. Do the same for next entry.

Screenmanager Resolution Width_h182942802 change that value to what you want.

exit registry editor, go into game & see if it worked for you.

yes it worked! Thank you very much!

I have the same problem, with a 3440x1440 monitor. Changed the values per instructions above with Regedit, and it did not work. However, once in game, somehow my desktop resolution changes to 1920x1080. If I alt-tab out of game or end game my desktop reverts to this other resolution. No matter how many times I change the Desktop setting, as long as I am in game, it will revert. A $1200.00 monitor foiled by a $9.99 game. Arghhhh. Can not express how irritating this is. For worlds' sake this is 2020: come on already. I have a dual monitor setup; other monitor is 2560x1440, but I have not tried the game on this one.

Seriously, companies in 2019/2020 that don't include ultra-wide screen resolutions by default look like clown-shoes. I'm talking even in beta / early access - it's expected behavior for you to support common resolutions.

To a veteran PC gamer of 20+ years, it feels like installing a modern game to discover the highest resolution available is 1024x768. And now for the past 30 - 45 minutes, I've been googling and horsing around in regedit. This is my first impression of the game.

PS: The regedit fix doesnt even stick. It shows the correct resolution (3440x1440) for like 10 seconds while it loads, then it goes back to 2560x1440. And even more frustratingly, it feels like some kind of DRM measure (launcher behind a launcher behind the actual game).

Fix it please.
