What about El Cid, is he going to be a leader?
He's kinda tricky. By the time the first scenario starts in 1066 he was, IIRC, at the Castillian court of Sancho II where ha had been raised and educated. In this period (but I am not sure exactly when?) he distinguished himself in his service in the ongoing war on Aragon and was made alferez (standard-bearer or commander-in-chief) of the king's troops before 1070.

So it's obvious that he should be in as a courtier at Sancho's court. The problem is that it would be more or less impossible to get a character from there to where he ended - as sole ruler of a small kingdom of his own in Valencia...

ye ye, i know his history(maybe not in detail) but is he going to rule Valencia or something at the end of 1100-century?
That's hard to say (as I allredy mentioned). By the time the scenario starts he should be Alférez of the forces of the Castillan king Sancho.

For El Cid to "happend" there is a chain of more or less inprobable events that have to take place. He will have to be banished from Castile (twice?!) and conquer the Valencia Taifa.

Whaqt we do not know is how the various characters will act once the game starts. Will anyone try to seize Valencia? Probably. Can we make sure that will be the banished Alférez of Castille? Proabbly not...

Yes, as a brief resume, he would be expelled after Santa Gadea´s oath , then part, be hired as a mercenary for the aragonese Taifa, kick ass against christians and other muslims, return in glory and conquer Valencia while marrying his doughters.

The events chain text could be taken from the "Cantar del Mío Cid".

If the Reconquista is well portraited, this is going to be a hell of a lot of fun (el Cid, the Almohades, the Almorávides, the Benimerines, the commercial wars against England, etc.).

yeah and the Crusade orders in Spain, Santiago, Al...something I believe, that would be nice :) :) :)
I'm surely going to enjoy this game :) :) :)

Smells like event material to me! ;)

A Santa Gadea event would surely help ;)
But for that you have to get Sancho II killed heirless first and that he dies in battle or misteriously fighting his brothers Alfonso VI of Leon and Garcia of Galicia.

I don't think events centering on historical characters are necessarily the best thing for this game, given the game's design in regard to those characters. I think events are best suited to represent other things such as plagues (to give one example).

If he is alive(that is) and is in game, he will be surely a leader :p

As he will exist (and be Castillian C-in-C) at game start you'll have him as a leader. The chance of him going of to capture Valencia might be slightly lower, however. If such things are even included into the game engine...
