So I picked up Roguetech, messed with the JSONs for reduced weeight and inventory space on the weapons and then started the game up. But, it would crash every single time I got into the very first combat. Is this some intentional thing or just Roguetech not supporting modified JSONs?

Reduced weight on weapons makes all the stock mechs invalid, which may cause problems for RT's heavily modified spawning system even if vanilla could take such abuse.

Also, RT does a lot more with critical space than vanilla, so changing slots might break the stock mechs harder too.

Vanilla does take that abuse. It's how I rolled my Mechs with crazy builds like, 6 AC-20s (Keeping them from overheating every round too all the spaces having the AC-20s at 1 space freed up) and it was fun. But, I guess Roguetech is a Strong, Independent Woman that don't need to mucking about. Which is a shame, they had some cool stuff.

Was really excited to try Roguetech, but during proper installation i had the 'bright' idea of joining their support Discord.

This gave me a chance to interact with the 'people' and the lead designer.

i would now rather have intimate moments with a cheese grater than work with such abusive, ill mannered, rude, and disrespectful individuals.

Do yourself a favor, avoid it at all costs (if you're not a pro at modding on your own) cuz asking for help will just get you belittled, ridiculed, oh, and don't dare ask a question. seriously, don't do it.

RogueTech team interaction survival guide, form someone who has seen both sides of it.

Don't ask questions covered in the documentation. Like ever. Writing both code and manuals is a hell of a lot of work, and the RT gang, especially Lady A, has VERY little patience with RTFM errors. So RTFM. If your question / bug isn't covered in the documentation, then you're not wasting their time and they're extremely helpful.

Also be very mindful not to imply that modding is easy.

I dunno, I have had good feedback so far. First one told me that I Broke It when I gave in the file, and now here saying that You Broke It Harder with my edits.

And I struggle enough with my base-level tampering, so making this from ground up means you are exceptional, in my eyes.

Yeah. RT channel is a harsh place. But c'mon you are talking to a team of crazy developers. I mean, look at what they did and how fast are they working. Work like this can easily make you imaptient.
Being a dev myself and judging by a number of new playes joining channel and asking same questions every day, i can say that i do understand them very well.

BTW there are 3 channels. Main channel, RT support and online map, where people are talking about online wars and map itself. Just make sure to write into support channel.
