Romae Aeterna - Part 1
A new hope for the Romans, a former important commander of the Empire named Maiorianus Valerius Majorianus ascends the imperial throne in the year 456. And after 3 years, his conquests took him to a high degree of prestige, overcoming the Visigoths and placing them as Foederatus again, in addition to destroying the Burgundian forces on the battlefield, but not everything was good, his invasion of the Vandal Kingdom in North Africa succumbed to the internal betrayal in his forces, the Emperor would return to Ravenna desolate.
Maiorianus spends another year planning an attack on the Vandal Kingdom, this time not a direct attack on its center of power, but the seizure of the Italian islands, strongholds of Vandar pirates and refueling centers for the vandal looters who plunder much of the coast Italian.
Vandal troops begin their attack by crossing the Strait of Messina and taking Rhegium, but soon after Avagis commands the Foederati Army and defeats Sieghard, leader of the Vandal invasion army. Roman troops arrived in the region in May 461, Maiorianus ‘Augustus’ leading his army defeated the Vandan forces led by King Genseric at the Battle of Reggio.

By January of the following year, the entire island of Sicily would be taken over by Maiorianus. With the loss of this territory, King Genseric would no longer be able to intervene in the region with his army, and his navy would be more exposed, soon the war would come to an end with the victory of Maiorianus 'Augustus'.
About a year later, in 462, King Elhard, the barbarian leader of the Frisians, declared a migration into Roman territory, soon the Maiorianus began to organize his troops in Avaricum. But Maiorianus makes the mistake of waiting for the Frisians in the wrong region, the barbarian army appears in Mediolanum around April 463.
Even without the entire Roman army, the Emperor leaves for Mediolanum with about 7,000 soldiers, who defeat the 5,000 barbarians in the region, inflicting almost 1,000 casualties on the enemy. The following year the barbarians are defeated near Vaudemont, in the Saulnus region. Finally, the invasion is repelled.
In the same year, the Emperor recreates the Praetorian Guard that had been extinguished in the 4th century by Constantine I 'the Great', but now with the absence of Scholae Palatinae, the Emperor feels the danger of being Emperor of the Romans, and sees as necessary a better provision of a guard for security, however much the former Praetorian Guard's reputation is questioned.

In charge of Caeser Félix, heir to Maiorianus, the Praetorian Guard and Legio I Italica advance over the territory of the Cantabrians. Around 3 months the region is conquered, for the next months Legio I Italica remains in the region, defeating several rebellions that followed after the conquest, to solidify the Roman power in the place.
In Britannia, the Roman Ambrosius Aurelianus solidifies his power in the region, conquering some territories, uniting the Britons and the Romans, and gradually sending back the sea to the Angles, Saxons and Jutes who constantly invade the region.

Part 2
Romae Aeterna - Part 2

Emperor Maiorianus turns 60 in the year 480, the Empire begins to prosper again, long years of peace return to the Empire, the succession is solidified through his son, Felix Valerius Majorianus, a brilliant strategist.

In the year 482, the Emperor, in order to deliver a final blow to the North African vandals, decides to start an invasion again, this time with the target being Carthage directly. Maiorianus directly leading 10,000 soldiers, depart from Aquae Sextiae in October, arriving in November in Africa, taking Carthage a month after the campaign. The war would end quickly in March of the following year, King Gunthamund would in no way be able to stop the rapid advance of the Maiorianus Army in his lands.
In 489, Emperor Maiorianus ended up dying naturally at 69, by historians of his time, philosophers and aristocrats, Maiorianus would be recognized as the man who brought splendor back to Rome, these are the same people who expect the same from his son, Emperor Felix Valerius Majorianus.
The Empire has remained at peace for years, but in 496, Emperor Felix began his invasion of the Vandal kingdom as his father had done before him, with Felix himself leading the Roman army. By July 497, large parts of the vandal kingdom had already been taken, only a small force of the vandals still did something, they had taken Aelia Uluzibbira. Even so, they would surrender soon.

The Empress of the East, Ariadne Leon, tried to solve the problems between the Chalcedons and the monophysites, passing an edict condemning Three religious chapters. Unfortunately, this act ended up receiving criticism from both the East and the West, and there are already talks about a Second Council that would be in Constantinople. While all this religious problem, the East Roman suffers from constant Hun attacks, which already dominate all Pontus, Galatia and managing to have land on their domain in the Mediterranean, the Great Khagan is Atilla II, grandson of Atilla 'the Hun'.

A group of Slavs crossed the Danube and started to settle in the Savaria region, governed by Proconsul and Magister Militum of the West Optauiui Licinius Rascus. Normally the Empire ignores such policies among peasants, but they have gradually grown in numbers to the point where the local Roman population has passed. Slavs are an incredibly independent people and would make Savaria impossible to rule. Optauiui at the request of the Emperor tries to ban them from the region, but he ends up causing a rebellion, a man called Godogost leads the Slavs, but in time the Slavs are killed or flee back beyond the Danube.

Patriarchs in the East voted that the Three Chapters will be condemned and that Christ had an energy and will. Now, the West and the Monophysites are expected to enter.
Emperor Felix for some years was already in Gaul, with his army, organizing an invasion in the barbaric tribes that were disunited in the North. The chance came in the year 500 with the invasion of the lands of the Frankish tribe in Morinibure. Then begins a long period of expulsion of the Frankish people in that region, Christianization and the construction of expensive Roman forts. The wars would be more costly than the Emperor thought, and they end in 502, with the conquest of Gesoriacum, Guisnes and Nemetacum and the victory by transforming the Frankish tribe of Leper into a tribe with the status of Foederatus.

subbed!

Seems that Eastern Rome is struggling, having lost half of Anatolia. But Western Rome is having quite the revival!

Wonderful stuff so far. The WTWSMS mod is quite beautiful. And you are showcasing why very early on. Keep it up.

Cheers!

I think this is the first AAR with EBS submod I have seen, will definitely follow it :). One thing you could improve is putting the images inside the text.
I will make this in after Part 4.

Part 3
Romae Aeterna - Part 3

Again with his army in Gaul, Emperor Felix returned to invade the Frankish lands in 504. In the same month the tribe of Leudica is expelled from the region by the Romans, and in August of the same year the Frankish tribes of Luxembourg are also expelled from the region, while other Francs in the region accepted the Roman government.

Septimius Antoninus, nephew of Emperor Felix, as he is the daughter of Sabina Valerius Majorianus, his sister, declares his invasion of the Empire in order to claim the imperial throne for himself, he invades southern Italy and Dalmatia. But the bulk of his army is defeated at the Battle of Prato, near Florentia, where Septmius would lose 2300 soldiers.

Close to Ravenna, the imperial army was defeating an enemy detachment, close to victory the emperor went ahead of his soldiers, and together they started to fight the enemies. Only shortly thereafter an arrow strikes the emperor's knee in the middle of the battle. Fortunately, his armor was more than adequate to protect him and he bends down to remove the arrow. When he finishes withdrawing the arrow, however, an enemy warrior pounces on him, the Emperor has only a fraction of a second to make a decision in front of the enemy, he quickly chooses to raise the weapon to defend himself, before the enemy soldier can do something, the Emperor's elite guards quickly shove their swords into his chest.

After a few weeks, Septimius would once again raise his army, and again fight the imperial army at the Battle of Augusta Taurinorum, with the Emperor again going to the front, fighting side by side with his soldiers. This time he would start to tire, his breathing became heavier and heavier. Even with the enemy soldiers retreating, the Emperor would end up trapped among some of them, until while looking closely at his enemies, the Emperor would see Septimius himself cutting his way and going to him. Without thinking twice, the Emperor challenges him to a duel, the two on guard then start to fight. With the two fighting, the Emperor had his morning star (a bat, or club), but he is still defeated by Septmius, who soon wanted to kill him right there, but his soldiers carry him without his permission, while the imperial army won the battle. The Emperor is rescued after suffering a non-lethal wound.
At the end of the battle, Felix decisively wins the war, his soldiers end up capturing Septmius Antoninus soon after, because he is his nephew, and from a noble Roman family (his brother is the Comes Drusus of Syracuse, his father had been the Governor of Sicily ), he just throws him into the imperial prison in Ravenna.

In the year 512, Emperor Felix began a policy of removing the powers of aristocrats with land, who rule almost the entire Empire, almost as lords of vast regions. The Emperor begins this process to again give the Emperors the power to personally appoint the governors of the vast regions of the Empire. The first aristocrat, Doux Rogatianus Ceionius of Umbria refuses to give up his land, entering into open rebellion against the Emperor.

While the imperial army was led by Caesar Iustinus, in Ravenna, his father, Emperor Felix would be assassinated, when being thrown from a great height in his palace, by orders of Duchess Fausta de Noricum.

Western Rome is doing quite well, it seems.

Subbed. I love WtWSMS...

Perhaps, in due time, you can seize control of the decaying Eastern Roman Empire and restore the glory that is a united Rome!

What's your plan for dealing with religious revolts by the Arians and probably the Hellenes?
